The modular emergency run-out pit of the Green ROP series consists of more than 50% quartz sand as found in foundries. With or without bonding agent, new or used sand. The rest consists of specially manufactured and treated “water and water vapor permeable drums”. Modules are made of the composite material KSV21. The design and choice of materials comes without reinforcements of any kind. Overflows are exclusively in the upper edge area. 1-2-3-4 depending on requirements. After the crash, or even after small spills of molten material, the sand surrounding the modules is simply vacuumed and removed, the free-standing modules are pulled with the hall crane. No need for an excavator and – in most cases – crushers. Modules from Silmeta Systems can also be power-washed. from the outside to the inside. Modules filled with solidified melt are either placed in the furnace as a whole including the shell (the shell dissolves into slag) or the shell bursts from the core (solidified melt) like a chestnut. In total, up to 50% quartz sand can be recycled after a crash, the rest is recycled or disposed as construction waste.
